
India: 'This is a moment of pride and honour for India' - Modi welcomes Egypt President Sisi ahead of Republic Day festivities
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed El Sisi in New Delhi on Wednesday as India is set to host the Egyptian President for the Republic Day festivities.
"This is a moment of pride and honour for India," said Modi in remarks delivered to the press alongside Sisi in Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi will be this year’s chief guest on Republic Day; the first to receive the honour in three years, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Republic Day marks January 26 1950, when the Constitution of India came into effect.
