Stavropol region builders have been an active part in the reconstruction of the Antratsit Basic School-Lyceum № 1 in the Lugansk People's Republic.

Footage taken on Monday shows an educational institution undergoing renovation, as well as the newly renovated secondary school № 19.

The deputy head of the administration of Antratsit town and Antratsit Region Natalya Shatalova said that school № 1 was undergoing its first major renovation in a long time.

"We have not seen such renovation work since the existence of our institutions. We have other institutions being repaired and all kindergartens being brought up to date. ... We are not just happy, we are enthusiastic," said Shatalova.

In his turn, the head of the Stroykom LLC site for Antrotsit Anton Ryabchenko reported that windows and roofing had already been replaced in school-lyceum № 1 last year. According to the man, major repairs are planned for the building for 2023, which include finishing work, replacement of utilities, repair of the facade and landscaping of the entire area.

Classes are already being held in the newly renovated secondary school № 19. According to the school principal Elena Pogorelova, the heating system, roof, and ceiling of the fourth floor and the canteen have been renovated in the building. New playgrounds for children have also been installed.

"We have changed the heating system because the school was cold. Now the school is very warm and comfortable for the children. … The canteen has also undergone changes," said the official.

On June 8, 2022, the Stavropol Territory and the Antratsit District of LPR signed a cooperation agreement, as announced by the head of Stavropol Territory Vladimir Vladimirov.

On September 30, President Vladimir Putin agreed to sign documents allowing the accession of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as the regions of Kherson and Zaporozhye, to the Russian Federation.

According to Moscow, the move followed referenda in which people living in those areas exercised their right to self-determination and requested to join Russia.

Ukraine and its international allies condemned the move, calling it an annexation of Kiev’s sovereign territory.
