Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Iran's Parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf condemned the European Parliament's resolution on calling EU states to list Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organisation, during a parliament session in Tehran on Sunday.

"No armed force has effort as much as the IRGC that faced terrorists and saved the region from malicious terrorists. The armies and officials of [countries] in the region confess this point that IRGC's key role in encountering terrorism is the primary and valuable role," said Raisi.

Qalibaf warned the European Union from firm and reciprocal steps against the EU. "We will detect the army of the European country in the region as terrorist groups and organisation, and will add necessary actions regarding them, in our agendum," he added.

Iran's Parliament speaker also urged the EU to study its steps to avoid closing 'windows of diplomacy'.

Earlier on Thursday, European Parliament, which has only an advisory role, overwhelmingly passed a resolution, calling on the member states to designate Iran’s Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist group.
