
Serbia: Raska and surroundings flooded, states of emergency imposed in several cities
The town of Raska and surroundings could be seen submerged by water on Saturday, after flooding hit the Western Balkans following torrential rain.
Drone footage revealed the extent of the disaster, showing flooded land, streets and overflowing river beds. According to reports, a body was pulled out of the Raska river on Friday, while dozens of people were evacuated from their homes. A state of emergency was declared in several towns in Serbia earlier in the week, including in Prijepolje, Sjenica, Novi Pazar and Tutin, among others.
Serbia, Kosovo and Montenegro were hit by floods, with houses, roads and other infrastructure, as well as valleys and forestland submerged by water. Schools and kindergartens were closed and traffic was disrupted. Several areas in the country have declared an emergency.
