
Spain: Brazilian footballer Dani Alves arrested over alleged sexual assault in Barcelona
Former Brazil and Barcelona player Dani Alves was arrested and detained by police in Barcelona on Friday morning after being accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a nightclub last month.
Footage shows the court complex where the 39-year-old is reportedly being held.
The defender, who now plays for Mexican side UNAM Pumas, was summoned to a police station before being taken into custody. He will appear before a judge on Friday, local media said.
Alves was accused by the alleged victim in a formal complaint of touching her beneath her underwear without her consent at the Sutton club on December 30.
The football player who has won several accolades with clubs such as Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona maintains his innocence.
