Emergency workers and firefighters were seen at the scene of a helicopter crash between an apartment building and a kindergarten in Brovary on Wednesday.

According to the latest data released by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU) following the completion of the search and rescue operations, 14 people died, including 1 child, and 25 were injured, including 11 children.

Earlier, the official Telegram channel of the National Police of Ukraine as of 11:10 a.m. (9:10 GMT) reported 16 people dead, including two children. As of 14:00 (12:00 GMT), the SESU channel claimed that 17 people had died, four of whom were children.

According to the Ukrainian Interior Ministry, Interior Minister Denys Monastyrsky, his first deputy Yevhen Enin, Interior Ministry State Secretary Yuriy Lubkovych, and other political figures died in the crash.

The Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, said that all the circumstances of the accident should be investigated and expressed his condolences to the victims' families.

The National Security Service of Ukraine launched a pre-trial investigation into the helicopter crash, noting that 'flight violations; technical faults with the helicopter; and deliberate actions to destroy the vehicle' are among the preliminary versions of the tragedy.
