Norway: 'Guns are the way to peace‘ - Stoltenberg urges support for Ukraine in Oslo
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg called for more support for Ukraine in Oslo on Thursday.
Speaking at the Annual Conference of the Norwegian Confederation of Enterprises, Stoltenberg stated „what Ukraine can achieve in those negotiations is entirely dependent on its strength on the battlefield. The reality is that as we want a peaceful, negotiated solution, where Ukraine can still be an independent democratic nation in Europe, then we must support Ukraine now. Guns are the way to peace. It is a paradox, but it is a brutal reality.“
He went on to comment on business relations with China saying „Business is also politics. And then we must not make the same mistake for other authoritarian regimes. Not least China. We cannot become so dependent on simple raw materials and products from them that we become vulnerable.“ He warned that exports to China must be carried out carefully while maintaining control over critical infrastructure and technology.
Stoltenberg concluded his remarks highlighting the cooperation between Russia and China. „They don't share our values. They want a different world order. And they are moving forward“, NATO’s Secretary General said.
