    The streets of Semarang city flooded after heavy rains lashed the island of Java over the New Year weekend.

    Footage filmed on Monday shows aftermath of the disaster and residents sweeping water from their homes with brooms.

    It also affected the work of city’s main railway station, Semarang Tawang, as platforms and tracks were reportedly swamped by the floodwaters.
