A team of four Colombian artists worked tirelessly to make a giant inflatable jersey to pay tribute to Argentina’s World Cup-winning captain Lionel Messi, as seen in the footage filmed in Antioquia on Wednesday.

The jersey created by Colombian artist Alejandro Uribe measures around 20 meters long and 17 meters wide.

"It is made of plastic equal to the plastic of the waste bags and everything is completely attached with adhesive, transparent tape. This project aims to reach the city of Messi," said Uribe.

The jersey was initially intended to be flown but the creators settled for its exhibition in an act of tribute.

Argentina beat France in the World Cup final last Sunday to lift their third trophy, following victories in 1978 and 1986. 35-year-old Messi announced that the game would be his last in the tournament.
