Biggest Story Ever Told! Huge moving Nativity scene in Venecia aims for world record
A nativity scene, covering more than 200 square metres and featuring many moving parts, located in Venecia, Antioquia is going for official recognition as the biggest ever, as seen in footage on Tuesday.
"The traditional nativity scene of Venice, the largest in Latin America, is a pride of Venice, Antioquia and Colombia. To date, approximately 40,000 people have been visited," said Mayor Oscar Andres Sanchez.
The plan is to get the creation certified by Guinness World Records. Local architect and creator Luis, Fernando Betancur first created the scene 16 years ago.
"I classify this nativity scene from Venice as a craft," he explained. "2,500 dolls, 370 rooms, more than 150 moving parts. All made of wood and with a Christmas spirit … and with a lot of love," he continued.
Footage shows locals and tourists visiting the spectacle, with buildings, landscapes and figures all created in miniature.
"I invite you to come visit it since it makes you relive the time of your grandparents, when you were a child, that is, it is very fabulous, innovative," said one visitor, Valentina Suarez.
