One-man band: Visually impaired Chinese musician shows extraordinary talent for playing many instruments
Visually impaired country musician Luo Yingxing has gone viral thanks to his ability to play multiple musical instruments at once.
Footage filmed in Zunyi on Monday shows him simultaneously playing the drums, guitar, harmonica and other musical instruments on his back.
"I have to read the sheet music. So, my friends used very thick watercolour brush pens and wrote the notes for me in the notebooks. Meanwhile, I had to use a magnifying glass to read them," Luo recalled the memory during the village wind band.
Inspired by his grandfather's talent for playing many instruments, he set up his own one-man band.
"In the beginning, I modified it with a real drum set, which is extremely heavy. After I have modified it 12 times, the set is from the very beginning of 35-40 kg to less than 20 kg in total," he explained.
In 2018, with the help of a friend, Luo registered on his social media accounts and posted videos of his performance. "Within a few days, I have gained more than 10,000 followers. The experience was very memorable for me. I feel my persistence for so many years without giving up got rewarded," he said.
Luo now has 2.68 million followers on TikTok and accumulated more than 6.98 million likes.
