Lebanon: World's largest floating bookfair docks in Beirut
World's largest floating bookfair, the ship Logos Hope, docked in Beirut harbour with a great selection of books on board, on Friday.
Footage features thousands of books in multiple languages displayed, as well as visitors looking into them.
"There is a specific message from the ship's visit, which is a message of brotherhood and a message of love, and a message of building bridges and a message of approach without emotion," Mohammad Wissam al-Murtada, Minister of Culture of Lebanon, said.
The 132-meter-long ship carries a large collection of books with more than 5,000 titles which vary between science, sport, gastronomy, art, medicine, dictionaries and languages in Arabic and English. Volunteers of various nationalities work on board the ship, and since 2009 it has been conducting non-stop cruises to most international ports.
According to organisers, the fair will welcome book lovers in Lebanon until December 31 before sailing on to Egypt.
