Footage taken on the night of Thursday to Friday shows the sky coloured by the shimmering lights in green, pink and yellow.

According to media reports, tour operators organise special trips to the Murmansk region for northern lights hunters every year.

Period from September to April, and sometimes even in August, magnificent views can be observed in Russia's northern latitudes.

The Northern Lights, or aurora borealis, occur when charged particles in the Earth’s upper atmosphere interact with gas atoms, producing small flashes of light.
