Search and rescue operations remained ongoing in Cianjur town, West Java on Wednesday, two days after the 5.6 magnitude earthquake struck the region.

The reported death toll stands at 268, with thousands believed to have been injured.

Rescuers could be seen digging through debris in the mountainous area, after dozens of homes and buildings were destroyed. Footage shows a body bag used to recover one of the victims of the disaster.

According to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency over 22,000 houses were damaged, and 58,000 people were evacuated.

The quake, which hit around 1:21 pm local time (06:21 GMT) on Monday caused large landslides across the region.
