Thousands of fans in Gaza City watched the World Cup opening ceremony via live broadcast on Sunday.

"Qatar presented an ideal picture for the Arab peoples who are capable of achieving achievements and hosting such tournaments," Mustafa Siam, Football fan said. "I believe that Qatar will mark the beginning of the Arab countries that everyone is required to have persistence, determination and a challenge that the Arab countries are able to host and organize such tournaments."

Thousands of football fans took their seats in a sports hall converted into a large indoor cinema to watch the opening ceremony in Qatar.

"Frankly, the performance today was disappointing," said a football fan. "We did not expect such a start."

The opening match of the 2022 World Cup between Qatar and Ecuador kicked off on Sunday.
