China: Hohhot closes city blocks and increases epidemiological control measures amid rising COVID-19 infections
Authorities in the Chinese city of Hohhot in the Inner Mongolia region have taken additional measures amid the registration of an almost two-fold increase in COVID-19 infections on Monday compared to a day earlier.
Footage taken on Tuesday shows Hohhot's empty streets, closed shops and fenced-off risk areas.
Medical staff are mass-testing the population on the streets of the town, divided into different zones depending on the level of risk of infection. It is forbidden to travel out of the high-risk zones.
City staff bring food and water supplies to the gates of the risk zones daily, as footage taken on the city streets shows.
On the other hand, residents of low-risk zones can leave and enter the area after registering at the gate.
