Disneyland in Shanghai was left deserted on Tuesday after it suspended operations on Monday, October 31 to comply with COVID preventive measures.

Visitors were initially barred from leaving the park until they could produce a negative test, leaving hundreds stranded in the park for hours while the process was carried out.

The closure came after authorities reported that a 31-year-old woman who had visited the park, among other places, had tested positive for the virus. Shanghai also reported 10 locally transmitted cases of COVID on Saturday.

On October 30, new cases in mainland China reached 2,898, surpassing 2,000 for the second day in a row, according to official data. China takes strict measures as part of its zero-COVID policy.
