
Cuba: Prestigious International Ballet Festival returns to Havana after COVID-induced hiatus
The 27th edition of the Havana International Ballet Festival 'Alicia Alonso' kicked off on Thursday in Cuba's capital city, after several years of hiatus because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hundreds of people including Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel attended the opening show at the Cuban National Theater in Havana.
The director of the Cuban National Ballet, Viengsay Valdes, welcomed the attendees and declared to be excited for the first festival under her direction.
The Festival will be held at Cuba National Theater from October 20 to November 13 and it will host foreign dancers from about a dozen countries, including Russia, Argentina, Spain and Mexico.
