Kazakhstan: Turkish President Erdogan arrives in Astana to attend the CICA Summit

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Astana, on Wednesday, to participate in the Sixth Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (SICA).

Footage shows Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokaev meeting his Turkish counterpart and the First Lady in the airport.

According to Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry, the summit will take place in Astana on October 12-13 and seeks to sum up the results of Kazakhstan’s chairmanship of two years.

The event will welcome 11 presidents from Azerbaijan, Iraq, Iran, Qatar, Kyrgyzstan, Palestine, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkey, and Uzbekistan. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko will participate as an observer while the Vice-Presidents of Vietnam and China will also attend the summit.

The number of CICA member states is 27, encompassing 90 per cent of the Asian continent.
