A flag raising ceremony was held in Hong Kong on Saturday, marking the 73rd anniversary of founding of China. The ceremony at the Convention and Exhibition Centre was attended by Hong Kong's Chief Executive John Lee and former leaders of the region.

John Lee, who took office in July, told that 'One country, Two Systems' is the institutional assurance for long-term prosperity and stability.

"In the past 1/4 century, Hong Kong has achieved impressive results. Although we have faced different challenges, we can always take a turn to be out of danger. The major reason is “One country, Two Systems”, which is the institutional assurance for long-term prosperity and stability. The motherland is always the strong support for Hong Kong," said Lee in his speech at the event.

The People's Republic of China celebrates its foundation on October 1st with a public holiday.
