Israeli airstrikes targeted the vicinity of the cities of Hama and Tartous on Thursday, leaving two civilians injured and causing material losses, Syria's state agency SANA reported.

Explosions were spotted in several places in Masyaf District in the Hama Governorate.

According to the agency, Syrian air defence systems shot down several missiles coming from over the Mediterranean Sea at 15:15 GMT.

Meanwhile, the Syrian opposition's Observatory for Human Rights reported that the strikes hit positions of Iranian-aligned militia in Syria's Hama region, causing several casualties.

In recent years, Israel has staged hundreds of airstrikes in Syria, however, the state rarely acknowledges or discusses those strikes.
