A nine-year-old basketball prodigy from Jiaxing city has become a viral sensation on Chinese social media for his unbelievable dribbling skills, as seen in footage captured on Monday.

Zhao Zhenrao can dribble two basketballs simultaneously with incredible precision, while standing on a 20-centimetre-wide bench

Zhao has been shooting hoops since he was just three years old and practices for one-and-a-half hours almost every day. His father says he decided to get his son into the sport to improve his health after a bout of illness.

“When my son went to school, he often caught colds and fevers. His illness actually affected his studying in school. To strengthen his health, I started to practice basketball with him,” Zhao's father said. "Within a half year, I realised I didn’t even need to teach him and he can learn it himself. Since then, I realised he has a talent for playing basketball,” he added.

Zhao's father believes his son has a bright future ahead of him and is already thinking ahead, turning his apartment into a training hall. Who knows, maybe the third-grader will become China's answer to Michael Jordan?

“We would like to improve his basic skills during his time at primary school,” said Zhao's father. “I will make the proper plan for the future according to his skills and growth. Joining the professional team, going to the physical culture institute or ordinary school, are three options.”

Zhao Zhenrao's amazing talent can be seen on the Chinese social media site TikTok, where he has already amassed 770,000 followers.
