China: Drone captures Wuhan in lockdown after four new COVID cases found
The Chinese government has restricted the movement of almost one million people living in Wuhan after reports of four new asymptomatic cases emerged, as seen in drone footage captured on Thursday.
Major highways and residential districts appeared to be completely deserted in the Jiangxia district as authorities began implementing temporary control measures for three days. Non-essential businesses have been forced to close, public transport services were cancelled, and people have been urged to stay indoors.
Four high-risk neighbourhoods have been identified by Chinese authorities where people are now banned from leaving their homes as well. This all comes as new evidence collected in a recent scientific paper suggested that the Huanan Seafood Market is the most likely origin of the virus. The country still practices a very strict zero-COVID policy.
