The streets of Lanzhou, the capital of China’s Gansu province, were left empty following a new COVID-19 lockdown, as seen in footage filmed on Monday.

Lanzhou officials imposed strict curbs last Tuesday, with residents in the most affected areas required to stay home and others only allowed out once a day to purchase essentials.

At the beginning of the latest lockdown, the province reported 19 confirmed COVID-19 patients and 114 asymptomatic carriers.

Mainland China confirmed 691 new COVID-19 cases as of last Saturday, 537 of which were asymptomatic.
