Japan introduced a travel trial for tourist groups coming to the country ahead of an easing of COVID rules, as footage filmed on Tuesday at Narita's international airport in Tokyo shows.

A first group of American tourists landed in the country, with more tourists from Singapore, Thailand and Australia expected to follow.

The experience is part of a global government project designed to test the safety of welcoming large groups of tourists prior to a full reopening of the Asian country to tourists planned for next month.
