
State of Palestine: 'It was an assassination' - Eye witness blames Israeli forces for killing Al-Jazeera journalist
Palestinian journalist Shatha Hanaisheh spoke during an interview about the killing of Al Jazeera reporter Shireen Abu Akleh, in the West Bank city of Jenin on Thursday.
Hanaysha was with slain Al Jazeera journalist Abu Akleh when they came under fire in Jenin. She describes the joy at working with the veteran and her fear when Israeli troops began shooting. Shatha Hanaysheh blamed Israeli snipers for the shooting.
Shireen Abu Akleh, a Palestinian-American journalist with over two decades of experience, was killed on Wednesday in the city of Jenin, in the northern part of the West Bank. Palestinian authorities claim that the Israeli military shot her in the head. Israeli military suggested that Shireen might have been killed by stray fire from Palestinians. However, Defence Minister Benny Gantz later said that "Tragically, it may be on our side. We are investigating it”.
