East Jerusalem: Body of Al Jazeerah journalist arrives at St Joseph hospital
The body of Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, who was shot dead on Wednesday while covering an Israeli raid in the occupied West Bank town of Jenin, arrived at St Joseph hospital in Jerusalem, where the reporter was born.
Footage shows attendees carrying Abu Akleh's coffin and throwing flowers near it. Some of the attendees can be seen crying.
The veteran journalist was shot and killed while covering an Israeli raid in the West Bank town of Jenin. Al Jazeera and the other two reporters who were with her blamed Israeli forces for the death of Shireen. The Palestinian health ministry said that the journalist was shot in the head when she was wearing her press bulletproof vest.
The Israeli military on Wednesday confirmed is 'investigating the event” and initially suggested, “that the journalists were hit by Palestinian gunmen".
Israel called for a joint investigation with the Palestinian Authority, which Palestinian President Abbas rejected.
