
Russia: Putin takes part in Immortal Regiment march in Moscow
Russian President Vladimir Putin joined the Immortal Regiment march through the Red Square in Moscow on Monday. Following the tradition, the head of state walked with a portrait of his father.
Putin can also be seen greeting other march participants. It was, reportedly, the sixth time for the Russian president to participate in the event.
According to the Russian Interior Ministry spokesperson Irina Volk, over a million people took part in the Immortal Regiment march in Moscow this year.
Immortal Regiment has been held In Russia since 2012. The event involves people walking down the streets on Victory Day holding photographs of their relatives who participated in the Great Patriotic War.
In 2020 and 2021 Immortal Regiment march was conducted online due to COVID-19 restrictions.
