Several monks and thousands of online guests participated in the Makha Bucha Day ceremony at the Wat Phra Dhammakaya temple in Pathum Thani province in Thailand on Wednesday.

Makha Bucha Day is a celebration for Thai Buddhists to reflect on the teachings of Buddha. It is traditionally celebrated on the full moon day of the third lunar month, as described in the Buddhist calendar.

Besides being a day to honour Buddha meeting with his disciples, Thais attend temples, give alms to monks, recite Buddhist scripture, and participate in a picturesque candlelight procession.

An alcohol ban is set in place during this public holiday.
