A number of iconic and extremely fast vehicles, including a ‘Postman pat’ van capable of reaching over 100mph (160km/h), were showcased in Leeds-based photoshoot on Tuesday, ahead of the ‘Straightliners open day weekend’ at Elvington Airfield.
“On display today we've got the 'steam rocket bike' built by Graham Sykes, and we've got the 'time machine' and we've got the 'postman pat van', the 'time bandit', Becci Ellis is here with a bike, a new bike,” commented Trevor Duckworth, director at the Yorkshire-based ‘Straightliners’ events company.
“She (Becci Ellis) is the fastest woman in the world on a sit-on motorbike at 264 miles an hour (425km/h) . All these machines will be on display at RAF (Royal Air Force) Elvington over the coming weekend,” added Duckworth.
According to Duckworth, over a hundred vehicles will be present throughout the weekend event.
“They're the fastest vehicles there are in the land, really. Some of them travelling at 280 miles per hour (450km/h) on motorcycles and even faster on cars,” said Duckworth.
The two-day festival will feature a number of record holding vehicles and take place between February 12 and 13.
