China: Calligraphers prepare Spring Festival couplets ahead of Chinese New Year
Calligraphers prepared Spring Festival couplets in the town of Wenxi, Yuncheng City, on Monday ahead of Chinese New Year. Decorating the front gate with red couplets with lucky poetry is a ritual for Chinese Spring Festival.
The local Couplet Organisation in Wenxi has been gathering calligraphers to write the couplets for the villagers every year since 2006.
"In 2006, seven or eight officers joined the couplets writing event. Now, 100 people have joined the event this year. For the last 20 years, I have been writing the Spring Festival couplets for the villagers, on average, to 200 local families each years. In total, I have written 4,000 pairs of couplets," said Pan Kaiji, Founder of Couplet Organisation in Wenxi.
As the year of tiger is coming, the calligraphers painted the pattern of tiger in the couplets.
