
Camera trap captures elusive snow leopards in Kyrgyzstan
Snow leopards were caught on a camera trap in the Baiboosun nature reserve located at the Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan.
The footage, published on Tuesday, shows the carnivores basking in the sun and playing with their companions, and examining the camera that watches them.
At least four snow leopards are believed to live in Baiboosun. Created in 2019, the reserve is protected from poachers by local residents and fishermen who count and monitor the animals.
A total of 18 species of mammals, 60 species of birds, and more than 500 species of plants live in the protected area.
