
Argentina: Wildfire in Rio Negro burns more than 7,000 hectares of forest
More than 7,000 hectares of forest burned on Tuesday after a wildfire raged through Cuesta del Ternero, Argentina's Rio Negro province, according to sources from the Ministry of the Environment.
The fire started on Sunday and spread rapidly due to strong winds whipping the region. Thousands of trees were engulfed by the flames and several homes located nearby were affected.
At least 100 brigades, as well as two fire hydrant planes, seven fire trucks and three helicopters were deployed to the region in a bid to control the flames.
