The first ever Russian designed drone taxi is planned to be built this year according to the Hoversurf company, which presented a prototype of their flying car in the small arena of Moscow’s Luzhniki sports complex, on Monday.

The drone taxi is reportedly able to fly as high as 150 meters and has the capacity to hold up to 300 kilograms. The maximum speed of the vehicle is 200 kilometres per hour, while fully charged batteries will let you cover 100 kilometres. In addition, the electric motors of the drone have a low noise level, allowing you to use the car in cities.

"There are no open propellers, a new type of engine, a ballistic parachute, a protective capsule for people. This car is much faster than any drone, because it has an additional main engine for moving forward," CEO of Hoversurf Alexander Atamanov said.

He also added that the new means of transportation does not differ in size from a conventional car but will save on petrol, since it runs on electricity. The developer mentioned that, according to global trends, the first stage of the introduction of Russian drone taxis is planned for 2025.

"We make this technology for all people without restrictions. We want it to be affordable, to be cheaper than a ground taxi. And of course, in five minutes you will get to any point much faster. You will pay less money for this, because there is no driver or pilot here. The machine is fully electric. It does not consume fuel," Atamanov concluded.
