USA: Fauci welcomes 'liberating feeling' of working under Biden after Trump admin
Chief Medical Advisor to the President Anthony Fauci said that working under the new administration was a 'liberating feeling,' in comparison with serving under former President Donald Trump, at a press conference in Washington DC on Thursday.
"It was very clear that there were things that were said, be it regarding things like hydroxychloroquine and other things like that, that really was uncomfortable because they were not based on scientific fact," said Fauci, who is also the director of National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, describing his time under the last government.
Fauci also commented that "one of the new things in this administration is if you don't know the answer, don't guess, just say you don't know the answer," when he declined to address a question on Amazon's recent move to assist the Biden administration in its pandemic response.
"One of the things that we're going to do is be completely transparent, open, and honest. If things go wrong not point fingers but to correct them and to make everything we do be based on science and evidence," explained the official in reference to the approach under new President Joe Biden.
Fauci disagreed with Trump on multiple occasions while serving as a member of the president's coronavirus task force, with the former president criticising the official publicly in several instances.
