Germany: North Rhine-Westphalia postpones vaccinations due to shortages
The planned start of vaccinations for frontline health workers and those over eighty living at home in North Rhine-Westphalia was postponed, on Wednesday, due to the delays in the delivery of the corona vaccine from BioNTech Pfizer.
Wolfgang Muller, the Director of Caritas Clinic in Datteln, said he was surprised to receive an email late last night about the lack of vaccine deliveries, forcing him to stop the hospital's vaccination campaign.
He said it had been "calculated that we will receive vaccination doses for 326 employees here at St Vincenz Hospital today and wanted this to be distributed to employees over the next three days."
"Our employees are frustrated, annoyed, you have to say, angry about this cancellation," he added.
The vaccinations are planned to resume in hospitals and care facilities from February 1.
