Joe Biden took the oath of office to become the 46th President of the United States during the inauguration ceremony at the US Capitol Building in Washington DC on Wednesday.

Biden took the oath of office, alongside Vice-President Kamala Harris, with the ceremony administered by Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Sonia Sotomayor of the US Supreme Court.

Harris is the first woman to have taken the oath as vice-president, while Biden has become the US's oldest president at the age of 78.
