Netherlands: 'It was reasonable' - Legal Protection minister on govt resignation
Dutch ministers, including Prime Minister Mark Rutte were seen leaving after a meeting of the Council of Ministers, The Hague, Friday. The Dutch government resigned on Friday following a report of a scandal in which people were falsely accused of committing child benefit fraud.
"We all (the Council of Ministers) discussed the political question, and actually it was clear for everyone that with this hard report it was reasonable that the government takes the responsibility," said Minister of Legal Protection, Sander Dekker.
The government falsely accused families of committing child benefit fraud and wrongfully forced them to repay the money they received.
The Netherlands are set for elections in March.
