
Spain: Firefighters clear snow from Madrid roofs following historic levels
Firefighters from the Madrid City Council carried out several interventions on Tuesday to clean up the snow accumulated on roofs to prevent landslides from taking place.
According to sources from the regional government, firefighters have carried out a total of 263 interventions the Spanish capital, the majority due to falling trees, structural collapses and rescue operations.
“There are no means of transportation. The snowfall broke all the trees, it affected this area severely, it is very difficult to walk, we have no means, we have no salt… We don't have what we need," said Sorin, a Madrid resident.
The storm 'Filomena' brought record levels of snow to Madrid causing land and air traffic disruptions and school closures.
