Catholics gathered in Vauban Square, in Paris, on Sunday, for an outdoor mass despite COVID-19 restrictions allowing a maximum of 30 people at public masses.
People were seen praying, with many of them spotted wearing face masks.
On Sunday, the French Council of State demanded the government to review the decree that limits the number of worshippers.
Earlier French President Emmanuel Macron announced that public worship would be allowed with limited attendance starting November 29.
