Germany: Berlin hospital overwhelmed by COVID cases faces halt on admissions
One of Germany's largest hospitals may be forced to stop admitting new patients due to the rising numbers of severe COVID-19 cases within days.
A spokesperson for Vivantes group confirmed that its clinic in Berlin's district of Neukolln, filmed on Saturday, was facing a halt on new admissions.
The decision would mean emergency services in the area will have to deliver patients to other clinics.
The problem was reportedly due to the insufficient number of medical staff, as around 15 percent of the 1,200 beds in the hospital were still free.
Four other clinics in Berlin have already closed the doors of their intensive care units, as they reached their full capacity.
