Dinner to go! German couples enjoy candlelit feast inside mobile homes
Couples enjoyed a romantic candlelit dinner in the unusual intimacy of their own motorhomes, as part of an ingenious service provided by a hotel in the German city of Witten.
Customers were seen arriving with their motorhomes, campers and camping trailers to the restaurant car park of Witten's Ringhotel-Park Hotel, where they proceeded to relish a candle-light dinner served by the hotel restaurant's staff.
Hotel director Lukas Zeuch shared how he first got the idea through a Facebook motorhomes dinner group, a how he decided to bring it to life to inject a shot of normalcy amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
"It works in the same way as in the restaurant. You call and book a table and in that case, a parking space," Zeuch explained. "The guests come with their own mobiles or with their trailers, they park them in our parking lot. Of course, 50 meters from the restaurant."
Staff members were seen setting out tables inside the caravans with an attention to detail comparable to starred eateries, allowing couples to tuck in to enjoy a delectable four-course menu washed down by a top-tier bottle of wine. The nomad chic experience comes at a price of €65 ($77.50/£58).
"The special thing is that you eat so stylishly here, normally you don't do that in a motorhome or when camping. And that's quite an experience," said Mr. Grunebaum, one satisifed customer from Essen.
"It is a completely new experience to dine so princely here and to be served beautifully, that is, that is a pleasure," echoed Mrs. Grunebaum before she and her husband made a toast to their sweet soiree.
