Argentina: Chaos in Casa Rosada forces impromptu suspension of Maradona wake
A wake service for football legend Diego Maradona was interrupted inside Casa Rosada, the office of the President of Argentina, on Thursday, after clashes broke out between football supporters who showed up to pay their respects.
Clashes are said to have started around 14:00 local time (17:00 GMT), when police sought to interrupt access to the ardent chapel.
Several people were injured in the process although the severity of the injuries are yet to be confirmed.
The incidents inside and around the presidential palace forced authorities to move the coffin to another location temporarily.
The Argentine government had earlier decreed three days of national mourning after the announcement of the death of the Argentinean football legend Maradona, who passed away aged 60, on Wednesday, from a heart attack.
