State of Palestine: Dozens of anti-annexation protesters injured as Israeli forces use tear gas
Dozens of people were injured as Palestinian anti-annexation protesters clashed with Israeli military forces in the northern Jordan Valley, on Tuesday.
Israeli military forces tried to disperse protesters heading towards Khirbet Humsa al-Fawqa village, southeast of Tubas, using tear gas and crowd control grenades, while protesters responded throwing rocks.
Paramedics present at the scene were seen treating injured protesters and taking some to the hospital.
"The Jordan Valley can be nothing but Palestinian, despite all the Judaisation procedures and the forced displacement attempts implemented by the Israeli occupation forces in this area. However, we will rebuild all what has been destroyed by the Israeli occupation army. We will not leave our people in the open-air [without homes due to displacement]," said Murad Shteiwi, member of the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission.
Palestinians were protesting against the demolition and subsequent annexation of a Bedouin encampment in the northern Jordan Valley by Israel, which, according to Israeli forces, happened because those structures had been built illegally.
The European Union, the United Nations, and many countries in the region strongly opposed and condemned the demolitions.
