Life imitating art? Bizarre metal monolith discovered in Utah reminiscent of '2001: A Space Odyssey'
A group of officers from the Utah Department of Public Safety were seen on Tuesday investigating recently discovered metallic monolith in Red Rock Country of rural Utah, which resembles a similar structure from Stanley Kubrick's 1968 sci-fi classic '2001: A Space Odyssey'.
The shiny monolith was discovered by the group of Public Safety Department on November 18, when they accidentally noticed it from the sky, while inspecting the area from a helicopter.
The monolith is around three metres (10 feet) high and has a rectangular shape. As reported, the officers said that the object is firmly attached to the ground and seems like it has been brought there and strongly attached to the rock intentionally. They also said that the spot where it has been found is very difficult both to find and to approach, even by helicopter.
The origin or the reason why the monolith has been placed there, or who brought it and grounded it among the rocks is still unknown and to be investigated. In other words, its origins and purpose are still a total mystery.
