      France: Former French President Sarkozy arrives at Paris courthouse ahead of corruption trial

      Former President of France Nicolas Sarkozy walked into the general court of Paris on Monday afternoon to attend the first day of his trial. Sarkozy is facing​​ charges of corruption and influence-peddling.

      The trial is expected to focus on various communications between Sarkozy and his lawyer Thierry Herzog in 2014. The communications allegedly took place under false identities in order to seek information into the Bettencourt affair. The trial is expected to last until December 10th.
