Victims of street violence were filmed at the trauma centre of the National Hospital in Abuja on Thursday, following unrest in Nigeria's capital as protesters and tensions continue to grow.

Footage shows victims recovering from heavy trauma obtained as a result of clashes and street violence. Numerous people are thought to have lost their lives in the unrest seen in recent days.

Precious Chukudima, an Abuja resident, expressed concern at the ongoing situation in regards to freedom of speech in Nigeria as tensions rise, while also expressing a demand for the end of the SARS task force.

"I'm even afraid as I'm talking to you, because I don't know what's happening in my vicinity. I don't know who is coming after me. In this state you can't even express yourself any longer because you don't know who is at your back," she said.

"So my hope is that the president does come and talk to us and tell us what he wants to do for all. We don't want SARS. Let them end SARS. We don't want brutalities, Police are killing a lot of us. We are youths, we are leaders of tomorrow. What legacy are they leaving behind for all? That is my own point. Please, they should end SARS. I stand for one Nigeria, peace," she added.

Recent protests against SARS kicked off after the publication of a video of a man allegedly being killed by one of its members. Since protests began, the Nigerian government has announced the dissolution of the police force, but protests have nevertheless continued and became more broadly critical of the government and in favour of reform.
