Nigeria: Burned wreckage on Abuja's streets amid ongoing anti-SARS protests
Burned vehicles and damaged buildings could be seen in Abuja on Wednesday, following another round of anti-Sars (Special Anti-Robbery Squad) protests.
Demonstrators reportedly burned down a police station to protest the use of firearms by police.
The protest came as at least 12 people attending an anti-SARS rally were reportedly killed by Nigerian forces in Lagos on Tuesday, according to Amnesty International.
For two weeks, thousands of demonstrators have taken to the streets nationwide to protest against the Special Anti-Robbery Squad police unit, accused of extortion and civil harassment.
The unit was dismissed on October 11 but the protests have continued with demonstrators demanding general law enforcement reforms.
