Azerbaijan: Locals in shelled Terter react to recent humanitarian truce with Armenia

The Azerbaijani town of Teter has been unusually calm since the humanitarian truce between the warring parties in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was announced. Some locals were seen returning to their homes on Sunday to examine the damages caused by the shelling that had hit their homes and other parts of the city.

"Irrespective of the ceasefire, the Armenians continue their attacks. As you know, they fired at civilians in Mingachevir, Ganja. The world turns a blind eye to these violations. Powerful nations should not be tolerant with them, but they expressly support them," stated local resident Huseyin Beyohlu. Huseyin was referring to Saturday's shellings, which hit Ganja and reached the nearby strategic city of Mingechevir.

"There is a ceasefire but Armenia doesn't abide by it. As you see, they have destroyed these places but we are not going anywhere. Armenia hadn't have enough by shelling our forces, so they are bombing the civilians here," stated local resident Bahtiyar.

Fighting between Armenia and Azerbaijan over the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh broke out on September 27.

Yerevan and Baku agreed to a ceasefire on October 10, but both sides have since accused each other of continuing attacks.
