India: Mumbai streets flooded as heavy rains trigger yellow weather alert
Heavy rainfall poured over Mumbai on Wednesday, flooding the streets and paralysing the city as transport was shut by authorities amid a yellow weather alert issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
A few passersby armed with their umbrellas waded through the knee-high water on Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road.
The city has seen heavy downpours since Tuesday, which turned more intense on Wednesday, affecting local train commutes, suspending several services in the city due to waterlogging.
The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai declared a holiday for offices and establishments and the Bombay High Court has suspended its hearings for the day due to the severe weather conditions.
